USCG Master Captain Marianne Derbyshire and her husband, Tom Koncius, carry a deep reverence for the Atlantic. After being married aboard their 50 ft Sailing Catamaran in the British Virgin Islands, they returned to the South Shore to share their passion for the classic yachting lifestyle.

A mile offshore, alone in the Atlantic, stands the tower that has been the terror of mariners — and the spark of more romances — than any lighthouse in Massachusetts. It is the heart of our signature charter.

Along the Way
Scituate Light
New England's oldest complete original lighthouse, guiding mariners since 1811. Its storied past — including the legendary "Army of Two" during the War of 1812 — makes it a captivating stop on every South Shore cruise.
Completed in 1811 at a cost of $4,000, Scituate Light was the 11th lighthouse built in the United States. In September 1814, sisters Rebecca and Abigail Bates — the "Army of Two" — famously played fife and drum so loudly that British soldiers mistook the sound for the Scituate town militia and retreated.
The light was twice removed from service when Minot's Ledge Light was built, then returned after storms. It fell into disrepair for decades until the town purchased it in 1917. Restored by the Scituate Historical Society and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was relit in 1991 and is visible from sea as a private aid to navigation.

Boston Light
America's first lighthouse, standing sentinel since 1716. On Little Brewster Island at the entrance to Boston Harbor, it remains the oldest light station in the United States. The beacon has been automated since 1998, and Dr. Sally Snowman — the country's last official lighthouse keeper — retired in December 2023, ending over 300 years of lightkeeping history.
Boston Light was built in 1716 on Little Brewster Island to mark the safe channel into Boston Harbor. It was the first lighthouse ever constructed in what would become the United States. During the Revolutionary War, British forces destroyed the original tower in 1776 as they evacuated Boston. It was rebuilt in 1783 and has guided mariners ever since.
The present 89-foot granite tower was constructed in 1859, replacing the 1783 structure. The Coast Guard automated the beacon in 1998, and retained Dr. Sally Snowman as keeper — making Boston Light the last staffed lighthouse in the country until her retirement in December 2023. Today the Coast Guard still maintains the light as an active aid to navigation, and the island is stewarded by the National Park Service. The light was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and continues to welcome vessels into one of America's great harbors.

- Into the Mystic carries USCG-required safety gear for every guest and voyage: properly sized life jackets, throwable flotation devices, visual distress signals, a first-aid kit, fire extinguishers, and a VHF radio. The vessel is operated by a USCG Master Captain and is maintained to Coast Guard standards.
